Rachel McDougall Nishimura
With a Bachelor of Science in K-8 Education and a Master of Education in Curriculum and Instruction, Rachel is accustomed to teaching in a variety of classroom environments locally and abroad. Her focus is always to promote inclusion, acceptance, and success. Finding ways for students to access their academic strengths and feel successful in the classroom is her goal.
In Rachel’s current position, she works with every student to ensure their needs are being met academically, socially, and therapeutically. As part of this, it takes creative collaboration and problem solving to support the needs of the hospital and local school district; and most importantly identify ways to best serve her students.
As the Education Coordinator, Rachel is fueled by the desire to map and track academic gains, establish accountability for both students and teachers, connect with guardians and support staff, and to praise any and every academic success possible. Researching and investing in tools that help with this is priority as she works to change the idea of “school” among her residential population.
